03/04/05 - A special walk lead by the local Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty warden, who had kindly arranged glorious weather for us. Starting at Mottistone Down car park, we headed west along the downs with fascinating geological history supplied by John, eventually reaching the road where we turned back on ourselves up the drive before breaking off into the woods, through to the Long Stone where we were entertained by some imported New Forest ponies. Carrying on east though the conifer forest (sadly no squirrels spotted), to Rock to admire the ship carvings on the buildings. Finally up Brighstone Down to the edge of the forest and along the track back to the car park.
