5/06/05 - A small band made the expedition to the mainland. Starting from Brokenhurst, the route took us out to the north east of town, quickly dissappearing into the forest along little used forest paths and tracks following Highland Water.
Crossing the Rhinefield Ornamental Drive, pausing to admire the impressive ancient conifers, some of the more gullible members tested claims that the bark was very soft by punching the trees. We then turned south along a track to a ford for lunch.
Despite the light rain, we were kept entertained by several ponies and traps crossing the ford (sadly no one fell in in an amusing fashion). Passing Rhinefield Cottage, we emerged onto open heathland again, passing Ober corner, skirting the caravan site, and back into town.
