23/4/06 - A few spits of rain greeted the 12 members who met at the Priory car park in Carisbrooke and after some indecision over coats, we headed over towards the Castle (just in case Harry was in the wrong place again). Carrying on up the Tennyson Trail, we were soon removing layers as the drizzle stopped and the warm weather (and steep hill) took their toll. Along the top of the Down, we then turned East off the Trail, down hill towards the road. Hilary was pleased to finally find some lambs, with one particularly friendly one nearly ending up in her rucksack for adoption. Heading up hill, three of the chaps mysteriously disappeared in the woods to see an alleged well - we look forward to Alf's photos. Turning South, we continued ascending into Dukem Copse where some conveniently sized logs provided an ideal lunch spot where we were entertained by Martin's tales of nurses outfits. Continuing on past the TV mast and down to Chillerton, then across country again to Little Gatcombe where Archie received a less than warm welcome from one of the locals. Steeply up hill, we then found some even cuter lambs for Hilary, before descending the Shepherds Trail to return to the car park.
