1/6/08 - Parking up in the new school/community car park, we eventually numbered 16 plus four dogs. Heading up Arreton Down and contouring along to and down Shepherd's Lane to our first Manor at Haseley. Briefly on the cycle track, we soon headed off across the fields and the pollen count began to rise. By coffee break at our second manor at Great Budbridge, many of us were sneezing and rubbing our eyes. Up Merstone Lane and back to the cycle track we chased away a dithering family from the picnic tables for our lunch spot. Passing the less stylish Merston Manor, we crossed the road and climbed St George's Down, then down the other side passing the much smarter Great East Standen Manor with resident Airedale. The group split briefly as the back markers took the road route while the rest of us went through the woods to Burnt House Lane. Back onto Arreton Down, and our final manor as we descended back into the village.
