21/12/08 - A select group of 7 walkers and 2 dogs met outside the Crown Inn in Shorwell.
Setting off we soon turned off the road and into fields.
Passing Northcourt Farm we climbed steeply upwards onto Foredown, before being met by the sound on gunfire.
Luckily it was just clay-pigeon shooters so we strolled along the top of the down in the chilly breeze.
As we reached the forest, we turned down into its shelter before descending Fern Bottom to stop for a coffee break and a sample of Alison’s mince pies.
Just as we approached the road, we turned steeply uphill again before dropping down a little bit further up.
We proceeded onwards up again onto Frogland Copse before stopping in a disused pit for a quick lunch sheltering from the wind (and waiting for Christine to round up Annie).
Up onto Duken Down before passing the copse with its brand new fence which mysteriously stopped half way through.
Through the farm, we approached the TV station mast before descending down, arriving back into the north of Shorwell village.
