29/3/09 - 15 walkers gathered at the Smugglers Haven car park, there was a cruel start to the walk, an immediate ascent of Nansen Hill , once everyone had recovered we made our way to the view point car park, where Martin told his first dirty joke of the day.
Passing the Ventnor Radar station, heading along and off of Wroxall Down into Upper Ventnor, towards the golf course and Rew Down, arriving at the Whitwell Road via part of the Stenbury Trail.
The footpath runs parallel with the Whitwell Road, before entering a field where a ploughing match was in progress, we crossed St Lawrence Chute, and arrived at our lunch spot, overlooking St Lawrence.
After lunch, the magnificent 15 zigzgged off the downs, and into St Lawrence, heading towards Woody Bay. Our route followed the cliff path past various named and unnamed coves .
About half a mile after leaving Steephill Cove, Martin realises he's left his walking pole there, it was agreed, the rest of us make our way to Ventnor seafront, and wait for Martin there, during which time there was much partaking of ice cream.
Our route continued along the seafront, and the seawall to Wheelers Bay and Horshoe Bay, then into the Landslip, one final climb, numerous steps leading to, and inside the Devil's Chimney.
